Someone a few days ago had a cover that went on the front that protected the cooler. Where did you purchase this? Did you install it yourself or have someone install it for you? I would like to add this to my truck to protect the cooler, just not sure where to look for this item. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Blackcoffee94

I want to put the grille on mine.I hate seeing that intercooler sitting there just waiting for a rock to nail it.But i read a post on another forum where someone said Ford will void the warranty if anything is put in front of the intercooler.I can't see where that grille would hurt the airflow at all.Does anyone have any info about that?

I need to see where Ford will void the warranty.
I looked closely at the test drive truck that had 18,645 miles on it and the cooler was packed with pencil lead size rocks, bugs, and even a cig butt. I'm a mechanical Eng. but you don't need to be one to figure out that if i keep the stuff from getting in there to start with and not block the air flow off significantly, I will be better off in the long run. I am adding the billet above and some stainless steel mesh screen behind it. Did the same thing for the whole grill on my 99 SD and it worked well. Once you stop fwd movement most of the stuff on the screen just fell off.

That doesn't make any sense to me. After receiving my truck today and taking a closer look, it looks to me like Ford actually designed it so a grill could be installed. There are slots in the top and bottom of that passage. Perfect for popping in a grill.

The billet insert came from Ebay. You will have to look for it. Not showing in my purchase history anymore.

Its on eBay...$99. I picked one up and installed. Fits perfect, no drilling. Now the only real concern is air flow? Will have to do some testing and see how much, if any, there really is, and what impacts to the temps....

I went pretty simple. Used expanded sheep sheet metal and sprayed it in the chrome Metal Effects paint after some filler primer. It is secure enough to catch a rock, small bird or even a coyote once. :) I do really like the way it looks though with my two tone color scheme. Check my truck's photo album

I too want to cover up that UGLY hole...Here is the e-mail reply I just received from FoMoCo...

Hello Hal,

Thank you for contacting Ford Motor Company. My name is Julie and I'm with Ford's Customer Service Department.

I understand you wanted to install a screen/grille over the front bumper opening on your 2011 Ford F-150. I have personally looked into this matter and our records show that you contacted our Center yesterday July 20th over the phone. As has been noted to you, the area where you're interested to install a screen/grille should be kept clear. Otherwise, it may affect the New Vehicle Limited Warranty.

Thank you for writing.

Sincerely,
Julie

Guess I have been put on notice and it' documented in Ford's records !!!!
